CCE and ICMS jointly organized a course for “Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Training Activity” on 11 May. The course is approved by Conselho dos Profissionais de Saúde. It is “Developing an Evidence Base of Medical Treatment: Clinical Studies and Real-world Studies”. The students are the Macao health professionals, including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and medical laboratory technologists.

The 3-hour course is lectured by professors from ICMS, they are Assistant Director Prof. Xiuping CHEN and Prof. Hao HU. The course introduces evidence base of medical treatment and the relationship between clinical studies and real-word studies. After completing the course, the students enhance the understanding of key steps of clinical studies to improve analytical skills in qualitity and limitation of clinical research. Also, the students strengthen the understanding of data collection and latest development of evidence base in the real world, so as to improve the ability in evaluating the real-world research.

In order to meet the working schedule of the health professionals, the course was conducted in both face-to-face and online teaching. The course had been successfully completed with great recognition and positive feedbacks. The students, who attended the entire course, will be awarded a testimonial jointly issued by CCE and ICMS.

Starting from 1 October 2023, the health professionals must obtain the credits required by participating in CPD activity within the license cycle.  The credits obtained in each cycle can only be applied for the immediate renewal or re-issuance for the license.
