The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE), organized a training course on “New Quality Productive Forces – AI and Interdisciplinary Study” from July 18 to 25 for students of Northwestern Polytechnical University. Several students of Xidian University also joined the training, a total of 42 participants attended.
The 8-day training program consisted of a series of special lectures, with a rich curriculum taught entirely in English. Participants first attended four lectures in HK, delivered by experts. Then they came to UM to attend two more lectures given by instructors of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). They also visited UM’s State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IOTSC). At the closing ceremony, the student representative shared learning experiences, expressing that the training was highly beneficial. The program enriched their personal experiences and broadened their perspectives, and they hoped to have the opportunity to return to the University of Macau for future studies.
Located in the historic city of Xi’an, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is the only multidisciplinary and research-oriented in China that is simultaneously developing education and research programs in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology engineering. It is now affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). In 1960 it was approved as a state key university by the State Council. It ranked among China’s top 15 universities in the state’s 7th and 8th Five-Year plans; and NPU is one of the first 22 universities to have established a graduate school. It was one of the first universities to enter into the 211 Project in 1995 and the 985 Project in 2001.
To strengthen cooperation between mainland key national universities and UM, CCE is continuing to provide high quality training programmes in the future.
