The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with HKU SPACE, organized a training course on Ecological Environment in HK and Macao from August 18th to 23rd for 15 students majoring in Agricultural Resources and Environment from Nanjing Agricultural University.
The one-week training program was rich in content and took place in both Hong Kong and Macao. The students first attended 2 workshops on “Arboriculture in Hong Kong” and “Challenges and Opportunities in Modern Agriculture” at HKU campus. Then they came to UM to attend workshop on “The Current Status, Challenges, and Countermeasures of the Marine Ecological Environment in Hong Kong and Macao,” as well as a sharing session by Dr. Joe Chan from the Macau Ecological Society on topic of “The Current Status and Future of Macao’s Ecological Environment”. The students also visited UM campus and the laboratories of Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO). Finally, the students made group presentation and received detailed comments from the two instructors. At the closing ceremony, student representative expressed that through this training, they gained a better understanding of the ecological environments in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the ecological protection work in coastal cities. They gained a lot and hoped to have the opportunity to return for further learning.

This training course was collaborated with HKU SPACE again, through the cross-city academic exchange between HK and Macao, it helps to develop continuing education cooperation model in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
