The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organized a one-day study visit to the students from HKU SPACE on 1st Nov. A total of 17 students enrolled in the Higher Diploma in Library and Information Management participated in the event.
The day’s itinerary included seminar and campus tour. The seminar introduced the history and development of UM Library across its old and new campuses. The seminar also compared the differences between libraries in mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao, such as collection/book display methods, bibliographic indexing, and library design, as well as recent breakthroughs in the collection and organization of documents in the Macao region. After the seminar, the students visited UM Library to gain a deeper understanding of its functions, services, collections, and facilities. In the campus tour, led by UM student ambassadors, the students visited University Gallery and Residential College. The college’s facilities, including the dining hall, gymnasium, activity room, small library, and café, provided the students with insights into the daily life of UM students.
This exchange activity allowed the students to learn about the daily operations of UM Library, experience the learning atmosphere of its students, and appreciate the beautiful scenery of the campus. CCE continues to promote cross-city academic exchanges, aiming to foster interaction and collaboration among the youth of both regions through close cooperation.
