The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organized a training course from May 11 to May 15 for 120 students from Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology. The theme of this course was “Talent Development in New Engineering” and it was conducted in two separate classes.

The five-day training featured rich and compact content, with all specialized lectures delivered by UM faculty members. Topics covered included “Big Data and Artificial Intelligence: Revolutionary Developments”, “Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Manufacturing and Automation Control”, “Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Energy Systems”, “Introduction to Smart City and Internet of Things”, “Financial Technology (FinTech): Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence” and “Introduction to Data Science Programming”.  The students gained considerable insight into the future development of emerging technological industries and experienced high-quality, international-standard teaching provided by UM faculty members, leading to unanimously positive feedback. Students also participated in a campus tour guided by student ambassadors and visited SKL-IOTSC afterwards. During the group presentation and summary session, each group delivered a detailed presentation on the content they had learned over the past few days. Additionally, they thoughtfully created short videos to document the memorable moments from their study experience in Macao.

Since 2023, Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology has steadily and annually selected students to participate in short-term cross-border training programmes at UM. Both institutions look forward to further strengthening their cooperation, continuing to promote educational collaboration and talent exchange between the two regions, and enhancing partnerships between UM and universities in the Greater Bay Area.
