From July 9 to 11, University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organized a training course on Applied Physics and Materials Engineering for students from Suzhou City University. A total of 18 first-year students majoring in New Energy Materials and Devices from the School of Optics and Electronic Information participated in the program.

The intensive three-day program was rich in content. It featured specialized lectures delivered by professors from IAPME on the topics of “Materials Development for Next-Generation Batteries and Hydrogen Energy Systems” and “Semiconductor Physics and Devices.” The students also had the opportunity to tour the IAPME laboratories. During the closing ceremony, a student representative shared that the training in Macao gave them a preliminary understanding of and a wonderful impression of both Macao and the University of Macau. They added that they would definitely return to Macao with friends and family for an in-depth exploration in the future.

Suzhou City University is a public undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education, managed by the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, and hosted by the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government. Its predecessor was Wenzheng College of Suzhou University, founded in 1998. The School of Optics and Electronic Information at Suzhou City University was established in March 2022 through the merger of the former Department of Optoelectronics and Energy Engineering and the Department of Electronic Information Engineering. It is the first science and engineering school established after the university’s transition to its new status.

CCE is committed to developing more training programs for university students, aiming to foster greater exchange and cooperation between mainland Chinese universities and UM.
