The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of the University of Macau (UM) held the training course on “Digital Intelligence Empowering, Green Innovation for the Future: Youth Research Programme on Sustainable Development in the Greater Bay Area” for students from Hohai University from May 1 to 2, 2026. A total of 110 students from different faculties, majors and years of study at Hohai University participated in the programme, which was conducted simultaneously in two classes.

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Matthew Liu, Director of CCE, introduced the international development of UM and encouraged students to cherish this cross-border learning opportunity, gain a deeper understanding of UM and the urban characteristics of Macao, and broaden their horizons. Guests from Hohai University attending the ceremony included Ms. Sun Ning from the College of Information Science and Engineering, Ms. Wang Jie from the College of Environment, and Ms. Chen Weijia from the International Office.

The two-day training programme was rich in content and conducted entirely in English. The thematic lectures covered topics including “AI and Big Data”, “AI for Smart Building, Smart Grid and Smart City”, “Water Resources Environment and Sustainable Development”, and “The Role of Technological Development in Promoting Regional Economic Growth”, delivered by UM scholars in relevant fields. Through the programme, the students deepened their understanding of cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, big data, smart cities, hydraulic environment and sustainable development, and experienced high-quality teaching from UM’s international faculty team.

Hohai University is a state key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China, with a history of 110 years.
