From 28th July to 2nd August 2025, the University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with HKU SPACE, organized a training course on Interdisciplinary Studies for 23 students from various majors at Shanxi University.
The six-day training program, conducted entirely in English, consisted of a series of thematic lectures with rich academic content. The topics covered included “Big Data and Business Intelligence,” “Technological Innovation,” “Culture and Arts Communication,” and “Artificial Intelligence in Education.” Additionally, the participants visited SKL-IOTSC to learn about its latest scientific research achievements and development projects. Through this training, the students experienced the culture of both cities, as well as a teaching style different from that in Mainland China. They broadened their horizons, gained valuable knowledge, and expressed their hope for future opportunities to study in Hong Kong and Macao.
Shanxi University is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in China. It is a national “Double First-Class” construction university and is jointly developed by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Shanxi Province. The university was founded in 1902, originally named Shanxi Grand School (山西大學堂). Its long cultural lineage can be traced back to the Sanli, Jinyang, and Lingdetang academies of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Through cross-city academic exchange, it continues to promote the development of a new model for continuing education cooperation and linkage within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
