The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with Macao Centre for Research and Development in Advanced Materials of the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), hosted a training course on Chemical Engineering and Emerging Materials for 25 students from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) from January 25 to 29, 2026. The delegation was led by Associate Professor LIU Chengfei.
The five-day program featured a compact schedule with a series of specialized lectures delivered entirely by IAPME members. Topics covered included “Design and Application of Organic/Inorganic Composites”, “Material Development for Next-Generation Batteries and Hydrogen Energy Systems”, “Properties of Gases”, “Material Physics and Chemistry: Synthesis of Nanomaterials” and “The Mystery of Chemistry”. Beyond classroom instruction, the program included various site visits. Students visited the IAPME laboratories to know more about development of emerging materials in Macao. Led by Student Ambassadors, they also toured the UM Library, the University Gallery, and a Residential College. Additionally, the students visited the Macau Civil Engineering Laboratory (LECM) and Macao Cross Border Industrial Park Wastewater.
Since 2024, NPU has repeatedly selected outstanding students to participate in short-term cross-border training at UM. CCE continues to develop more high-quality training projects to promote exchange and cooperation between excellent Chinese mainland universities and UM.
