From 11 to 17 August 2025, the University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in cooperation with the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE), organized a training program for mainland university students. The program, themed “Training Course on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics,” was attended by a total of 77 students, who were divided into two parallel classes. The students were primarily from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Hohai University, with a smaller number of participants from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, University of Science and Technology Beijing, and Longyan University.

The seven-day training program was conducted in both HK and Macao, consisted of a series of thematic lectures with rich academic content, all delivered in English. The topics included: “History and Recent Development of AI and Robotics,” “Robotics as a Branch of AI,” “Impact of AI and Robotics on the Future of Work and Society,” “AI, Personal Privacy, and Ethical Issues,” “Hands-On Deep Reinforcement Learning,” and “Advanced Robotics and Control.”

At the closing ceremony, three student representatives delivered speeches. They all expressed that through this training, the students had experienced the culture and lifestyle of both Hong Kong and Macao, as well as a teaching style different from that in the mainland. They felt that the program had broadened their horizons and that they had gained substantial knowledge, and they hoped for future opportunities to study in Hong Kong and Macao again. In addition, Ms. Li Ya, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Marine Sciences and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University, also gave a speech. She stated that the rapid development of AI is a major national trend, and she encouraged the students to bravely accept challenges, study hard, and bring honor to the country in the future.

This training program marks another collaboration with HKU SPACE, aiming to continuously promote the development of a new model for continuing education cooperation and linkage within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through cross-city academic exchanges. CCE will also continue to launch more high-quality training programs to foster exchanges and cooperation between outstanding mainland universities and UM.
