The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organises a training course on Port Construction and Logistics Operation for a total of 40 students of Jiangsu Maritime Institute from Nov 21st to 25th.
The five-day training course was rich in content and compact. In addition to the lectures given by UM professors, members from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Macao (CILT.MO) were also invited as guest speakers to share with students about the logistics and transportation situation of Macao ports. In order to ensure the health and safety of all teachers, students and staff, the teaching activities strictly abide by the epidemic prevention measures. During the on-campus visit, students visited different units of UM, including SKL-IOTSC, UM Gallery, Library, RC and Sculpture. During the off-campus visit, many thanks to MACAUPORT as General Manager Mr. VONG and Operations Manager Mr. LAW introduced the company in detail and led the students to visit Ka-Ho Container Terminal, introducing how to handle container ships and bulk carriers from Hong Kong and the Mainland. Afterwards, the students also went to the Maritime Museum for a visit. At the closing ceremony, Teacher Zhang Qin and student representative said that the whole training and visiting activities have benefited a lot and left a deep and beautiful impression on Macao. They hope to have the opportunity to come back to Macao in the future.
Jiangsu Maritime Institute is a full-time higher vocational college approved by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province. Founded in 1951, the school is the first specialized school for training ocean going seamen jointly organized by the Ministry of Communications of the Central People’s Government and the China Seamen’s Federation after the founding of P.R.China. In the past 70 years, the school scale has been expanded and nearly 200,000 excellent alumni have been cultivated successively, all over the world, including Chen Hongze, a famous navigator, Ye Weilong, vice president of COSCO Shipping Group, Cao Desheng, director of the State Maritime Administration of China, and Chen Shaoze, director of the Standing Committee of the Nanjing Municipal People’s Congress and a large number of other elite leaders. The school is also known as “cradle of excellent shipping talents in P.R.China”.
