The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of the University of Macau (UM) organized training courses for 100 students from the Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology from November 17 to 20, 2025. The training featured two simultaneous themes: “Training Course on Talent Development in New Engineering” and “Training Course on Humanities and Social Sciences”.

The four-day programmes were packed with content. Lectures for the engineering group covered “Big Data and Artificial Intelligence: Revolutionary Development”, “Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoTs), and Smart Energy”, and “Advanced Robotics and Control”. Meanwhile, the humanities and social sciences group attended sessions on “Advertising Communication and Social Media Creative Management”, “Introduction to Macao’s Economy and Development Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”, and “How to Cultivate Future Leaders of the 21st Century”. Students gained profound insights into cutting-edge technologies and social sciences, experiencing high-quality teaching from UM’s international faculty. The courses were highly acclaimed.

During the on and off campus visits, students were guided by Student Public Relations Ambassadors on a campus tour, visiting the University Library, the University Gallery, and the Residential Colleges. Additionally, the engineering group visited the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IOTSC) at UM, the Macao Science Center, and CEM (Companhia de Electricidade de Macau). The humanities group visited the UM Museum of Art, MGM Cotai, and the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao, experiencing Macao’s technological advancements and cultural heritage firsthand. During the group presentation and conclusion session, each group presented a detailed report on their learning outcomes, expressing deep and positive impressions of Macao and UM.

Since 2023, the Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology has consistently selected students to participate in short-term cross-border training at UM annually. Both parties look forward to strengthening collaboration, continuously promoting educational cooperation and talent exchange between the two regions, and enhancing partnerships between UM and universities in the Greater Bay Area.
