The “Forum on Leading the Future High-Quality Development of Macau’s Construction Industry – Sharing Technology and Management of Large-Scale Projects and Introduction to the Construction Industry Course,” organized by the Macau Construction Association, and co-organized by the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Macau and the Macao Science Center, was held on January 13. The forum addressed the need for Macau’s construction industry to integrate into national development, achieve high-quality growth, and cultivate high-quality talent. It featured expert lectures, roundtable discussions and launched an introduction course to the construction industry, providing learning opportunities and promoting the development of Macau’s construction sector.
The forum’s opening ceremony took place at 9am at the Convention Center at Macao Science Center. It was attended by representatives from the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, Macao Science Center Limited, the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Macau, Civil Engineering Laboratory, Architects Association, Institute of Engineers, Association of Macau Engineering Consultant Companies, Association of Building Contractors and Developers, Construction Association, Construction Machinery Engineering Association, ASHRAE Macao Chapter — Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Institution of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, China Green Building and Energy Saving (Macau) Association. These representatives participated as officiating guests for the launch ceremony of the Introduction Course. About 200 industry-related guests participated in the event to discuss the future development of the sector.
The President of the Macau Construction Industry Association, Leong Iam Chong, and the Director of the University of Macau’s Centre for Continuing Education, Prof. Ting-Chi Liu, delivered speeches respectively. During the keynote sharing session, the Vice President and Secretary General of the Macau Construction Industry Association, Chan Kuong In, presented a report titled “Exploring Strategies to Overcome Blind Spots in the Division of Labor in the Construction Industry.” It highlighted the critical role of the introduction course as a major initiative to break through development limitations in the construction industry. Additionally, speakers shared insights on “Research and Application of Ultra-High Performance Concrete” and experiences from three large engineering projects. The forum also organized a roundtable discussion themed “New Generation of Construction Industry Stakeholders – Present, Future, and Technology,” inspiring thoughts on the industry’s future development.
