In order to meet the demand for construction safety supervisors, the University of Macau (UM) and the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR government jointly launched a certificate course for construction safety supervisors. The course aimed to provide training for construction workers and enhance their safety culture and work safety standards. With four sessions, the course received 200 applications and a total of 110 students successfully obtained a certificate.
The course was delivered by UM’s Centre for Continuing Education and covered four major topics, namely ‘Occupational Safety’, ‘Occupational Health’, ‘Safety Management’, and ‘Occupational Safety and Health Law’. The course combined theory and practice and consisted of 150 hours of study. Those who completed the course and passed the examination have received a certificate of completion jointly issued by UM and the Labour Affairs Bureau as well as a training allowance of MOP 2,500 from the bureau.
