The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) held a 4-week online summer training course “UMLive Online Distance Course – Early Childhood Education and Teaching Skills Improvement” for 42 students from Hangzhou College of Preschool Teacher Education of Zhejiang Normal University from August 2nd to 28th. With diverse themes and rich content, it has won unanimous praise from students.
In order to comply with the SAR government’s epidemic prevention policy, the entire training process was conducted in the form of online by ZOOM, allowing students to interact with instructors through the Internet. The 4-week course includes 4 major themes, namely: “Preschool Education”, “Special Education”, “Teaching Skills Improvement” and “Teacher Comprehensive Quality Improvement”. Each major theme includes 5 thematic courses. The courses are taught by UM professors and industry elites. Students also give weekly online summary reports in the form of group presentations. They had more opportunities to understand the learning and development of children in different regions, gained many knowledge fields and practical skills that they had not touched before, and got self-improvement. The entire course provides reference and assistance for the preparation of qualified preschool teachers.
During the epidemic, CCE continued to promote high-quality professional training programs online in accordance with government guidelines, and carried out online diversified training courses with a flexible education model to promote exchanges and cooperation between mainland universities and UM.
