The University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and Shanghai Looker Industrial Group Co., Ltd., recently co-organised an online training course “Distance Learning (UMLive) Course – Civil Engineering” for college students. A total of 27 students from Changzhou Institute of Technology, participated in the course, which lasted from 11 May to 18 May 2021. During the four-day course, it helps students to understand the development characteristics of the civil and environmental aspects of the world, as well as the future trend of building smart cities.
The courses are lectured by professors from FST and SKL-IOTSC, including: “Civil Engineering Fundamentals”, “Soil Mechanics” and “Building Smart Cities through the Application of Environmental Engineering and the Internet of Things”. Dr. Ping Zhang from FST, he has made careful comments and suggestions on the content and presentation of each group report, and many students have said that they have benefited a lot.
In the future, the CCE and Looker plan to continue to offer joint training programmes and promote collaboration between UM and higher education institutions in Mainland.
